RBI SPORTS WOULD LIKE TO WELCOME DIVISION 1 PLAYER KRYSTN BENSON TO ITS STAFF. KRYSTN COMES TO RBI WITH A WEALTH OF KNOWLEDGE WITH PITCHING AND HITTING. PLEASE READ BELOW ABOUT COACH KRYSTN.

Krystn is a recent graduate of Florida State University with her Masters of Science in Elementary Education. Originally, Krystn hails from Stony Point, NY where she graduated from North Rockland High School in 2010. After high school, she continued her education and softball career at the State University of New York at Albany. Currently, Krystn is an elementary school teacher and the head coach of the Junior Varsity softball team at Valhalla High School.

During her time at North Rockland, Krystn was a three-time Varsity letterman. Over her career, she was named to various teams, presented with many awards, and finished out her high school career with well over 500 strikeouts. In all three seasons as a varsity player, Krystn was named to the Lower Hudson Valley’s All-County and All-Section teams. As a senior, she was named Student-Athlete of the Week, Overall Spring Athlete of the Season, and First Team All-State.

In 2009, as a junior, Krystn helped lead her varsity team to their first Section-1 title in 25 years. That same year, the team advanced to the New York State Final Four. Again, in 2010, Krystn helped lead her team back to the State Final Four for a second consecutive year.

Beyond the high school field, Krystn played travel ball for the Rockland Rebels, and was an active member in the Haverstraw Little League. In 2007, Krystn helped take her Junior League All Star team to the softball World Series, where they placed 4th in the world. Two years later, Krystn lead her team back to the World Series as part of the Senior League All Star team.

During her time as a collegiate athlete, Krystn saw many opportunities to further her knowledge of the game, and help younger players build on their own skill levels. Her two years as a collegiate athlete were well spent, holding pitching clinics and giving individual lessons to over a hundred different players ranging from 7 years old to 18 years old.

Post-college, Krystn is in her second year of coaching at the Varsity/JV level and looks forward to coaching for many years to come. Her experience throughout her adolescence and into adulthood makes Krystn a great coach and mentor. She prides herself on not only teaching sound foundational skills, but also on preparing players for the mental and emotional aspects of the game.
