RBI SPORTS Would like to welcome Pitching/Hitting Instructor and division 1 athlete Danielle DeStaso to the Staff.
Danielle is a 2011 graduate of Clarkstown North H.S. a 4 year Varsity starter All-State in 2010 and 2011, All-Section and All-County 2009-2011, and All-League 2008-2011… Hit .508 for her career and had 211 strikeouts in her senior year… Helped Clarkstown North go 15-6 and win their League Championship in 2011. Danielle was offered a scholarship to play for Division 1 Seton Hall University.
2012: Danielle Made 27 appearances in the circle and 51 total for the season… Second on the team with six homers and 32 RBI… Pitched a team-high 131.1 innings and posted a 3.26 ERA… Her 105 strikeouts already puts her eighth on the SHU career list… Struck out six in five innings in collegiate debut against St. John’s… Fanned six batters in 4.2 innings against Florida Atlantic… Went 3-for-3 with a long ball against UMBC… Hit a three-run homer at Longwood… Belted a grand slam and earned first career pitching win against Towson (3/13, Game 1)… Tossed a complete-game two hitter with nine strikeouts against Monmouth… Went 2-for-4 with three RBI and recorded the final out to earn first career save against Saint Peter’s (3/21, Game 2)… 3-for-3 with two runs scored against Rutgers (3/28, Game 2)… Had a 2-for-4, three RBI day against Siena (3/31, Game 2)… Struck out a career-best 10 batters at Syracuse (4/6, Game 1)… Posted a pair of doubles against Providence (4/14, Game 2).
2013: Had 21 showings at the mound and 50 total starts for this season… Received Second-Team All-BIG EAST accolades on May 8… Named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the second time in her career on Feb. 11 following a .692 BA, 1.385 slugging percentage, and eight RBI week at the Hampton Inn Campbell Stampede Tournament… Placed sixth in the Seton Hall single season record book for home runs with nine this season… Recorded a team-high 163 strikeouts and ranked fifth for Seton Hall in a single season… Ranked second overall in the BIG EAST for strike outs looking and third for her 27 called third strikes in league play… Her current career tally of 288 strike outs ranks sixth in Seton Hall Softball history…Went 5-for-5 with seven RBI, one scored run, and 11 total bases during the season opener against St. Bonaventure (2/8)… Recorded four strike outs and allowed only a single run over 4.2 innings against Mount St. Mary’s (2/23)… Pitched all 10 innings in a late comeback win with a career high 14 strike outs against Marist (4/6 Game 1)… Gave up only three hits, earned six strike outs and retired 14 of 15 batters (11 in a row) in a complete game win at Syracuse (4/20 Game 1)… Finished the season with a .333 batting average, 37 RBI, 16 scored runs, a 4.13 ERA and 173 pitched innings.
2014: Appeared in 47 games with 44 starts (18 as starting pitcher)… First-Team All-BIG EAST selection … Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll three times (2/17, 3/10, 3/24)… Led team in complete games (9), strike-outs (88) and pitching appearances (29)… Led the Pirates in RBI’s (29), home runs (8), slugging percentage (.579) and on-base percentage (.366)… Had 17 RBIs in BIG EAST play, ranking fourth in the conference… Finished the season ranked third in school history with 23-career home runs… Put together a seven game hitting streak and had eight multi-hit games… Went 2-for-3 with a double, home run and two runs scored in the season opener against IPFW (2/7)… Struck out seven and allowed just five hits in a victory over Drexel (2/15)… Fanned a career-best 15 batters in a complete game shutout win over Quinnipiac (3/8)… Went 3-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs in a win over Providence (3/23)… Picked up back-to-back complete game victories in a series win over Creighton allowing only seven hits and three runs while striking-out 14 in 14 combined innings, also had three RBIs during the first game of the series (4/12-4/13)… Went 2-for-3 with a home run at St. John’s (4/17)… Had her longest outing of the year, nine innings at Villanova, picking up the win to go along with eight strikeouts (4/21)… Inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society.
2015: First-Team All-BIG EAST and BIG EAST Championship All-Tournament…CoSIDA Academic All-District selection…Second-Team Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) All-Star…Appeared in 51 games as a DH and 37 games on the bump…Ended the year with 45 hits, 36 RBI and a .324 average…Recorded 12 home runs…Went 3-for-4 in a win against DePaul with three hits, four RBI’s, and a home run. Finished the season with a slugging percentage of (.669)…Fanned 130 batters on the season…Recorded nine complete games and one shutout…Lead her team to a 2-1 victory on the mound throwing 11 K’s against Florida A&M in seven innings pitched (3/15).
